Garden Buildings
What treatment products should I use?
To protect your Regal Seasons shed, it’s important to use the right preservative for the type of timber:
- Smooth-planed timber – most of our sheds use smooth-planed timber. Make sure the preservative you choose is suitable for this type of wood.
- Rough-sawn timber – some of our overlap-style sheds use rough-sawn timber, which requires a preservative formulated for rough or unplaned timber.
Tips for treating your Regal Seasons shed:
- Treat the shed inside and outside during assembly
- Re-treat once a year to maintain protection
- Treat the underside of the floor before installation, as it will be difficult to access afterward
Using the correct preservative for your shed’s timber ensures it stays durable, weather-resistant, and looking great for years.
What causes timber movement, cracks or splits?
Timber is a natural material, so some movement, small cracks, or splits can occur over time. This is completely normal and is caused by the way wood reacts to changes in the environment.
In most cases, these changes are cosmetic only and do not affect the strength, stability, or performance of your garden building.
What can I do to minimise cracks or splits?
While timber movement can’t be completely prevented, it can be managed:
- Apply a quality wood treatment regularly to help slow moisture absorption and loss
- Ensure good ventilation inside the shed to reduce excess moisture and condensation
- Treat the shed annually, especially after periods of extreme weather
- Pre-drill holes when assembling to reduce stress on the timber when fixing screws
Why is a proper base important?
A proper base is essential because it ensures stability, prevents movement and subsidence, avoids moisture and rot issues, and keeps doors and windows aligned. It also supports the building's longevity and maintains the validity of the product guarantee by providing a firm, flat, and level foundation.
SIPs Pods & Lodges
Will My Building Need Insulating?
SIPs panels come with built-in insulation, providing excellent thermal performance. Additional insulation is typically not required, making SIPs an energy-efficient building solution.
Do I need Planning Permission?
This depends on the type of building you're considering. For garden buildings, planning permission is generally not required, provided the structure falls within Permitted Development guidelines — for example, it isn't excessively large or positioned in front of your property. If you're unsure, we'd always recommend speaking with your local authority before proceeding. You can find the full Permitted Development guidelines for outbuildings here: Planning Portal - Outbuildings. For commercial or business projects, planning permission will typically be required unless you already have an existing approval that covers your proposed development. We recommend confirming this with your local authority early in the process.
How Should Electric Cables and Plumbing Pipes Be Fitted?
Electric cables and plumbing pipes should be installed by qualified professionals in accordance with building regulations. Our SIPs panels are designed to accommodate standard installation methods.
Can I Leave My Uncompleted Building Open to Wet Weather?
While SIPs panels are moisture-resistant, we recommend protecting your uncompleted building from prolonged exposure to wet weather. Use temporary coverings to ensure the longevity of your structure.
How Long Will My Building Last?
When properly maintained, SIPs buildings can last for decades. The durability of your structure depends on quality construction, regular maintenance, and protection from the elements.
Garden Furniture
What is your returns & damages policy for garden furniture?
At Regal Seasons we really hope you will be happy with your purchase, however, we realise that occasionally this isn't always the case. All damages and discrepancies must be reported within 3 days and we would appreciate if you could photograph any damage or quality issues and upload relevant photographs. This will help us see the issue and allow us to offer advice if needed or identify any recurring product issues. Please also ensure that you keep any original packaging. This will be required in the case of a collection being arranged.
